Dr Rob Buckman, our colleague medical oncologist, educator, and patient advocate died this weekend on the flight back from London. many of us knew Rob in his many roles. Rob started his career in London, England and came to work as medical oncologist at Sunnybrook Hospital in 1985. Recently, he worked at Princess Margaret becoming a featured author, educator, publicist, and patient advocate. He was an extremely gifted colleague who made us laugh every day while reminding us constantly of the human side of medicine. He made us humble by constantly pushing for more humane approach to patient care.
Rob will be missed by his friends, colleagues, his patients, and his public audience. Many of you have asked about arrangements for Dr. Rob Buckman. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home, A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14. A private family service will be held.
