Dr. Christine Maheu is a Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance Scientist at York University. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, at York University. She also has an affiliate scientist appointment with the Cancer Survivorship Program, ELLICSR, Princess Margaret Hospital, University Health Network.
Dr. Maheu’s research interests include: psychosocial and behaviour impact of breast/ovarian cancer, of being at risk for an inherited cancer, and of genetic testing. Other interests are group psychotherapy approaches to help live with uncertainty to a disease or disease risk, fear of recurrence, coping, distress, and improving knowledge; descriptive studies of health capitals among minority groups towards breast cancer prevention.
Dr. Maheu holds operating funds from the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance (CBCRA) and has received catalyst grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Centre of Urban Health Initiative (CUHI).
