Olive Oil
4 cups
Tomato Puree or Crushed Tomatoes
1 cup
Water
2 tbsp
Tomato Paste
1 cup
Onion, diced
2 cloves
Garlic
1/2 cup
Carrot, grated
1 cup
Butternut Squash, grated
1/2 cup
Zucchini, grated
1 tsp
Dried Oregano
1 tsp
Dried Basil
To Taste
Sea Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Directions
Cooking Directions
Heat oil in a medium sauce pot and sauté onions and garlic until softened. Add tomato paste and stir through.
Stir in the tomato puree, water, and grated vegetables.
Season with oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Stir well and simmer for one hour.
Puree sauce in a blender until smooth.
Serve with your favorite type of pasta.
Optional: Add ground beef, turkey or chicken in the first step and cook until brown, removing excess grease.
Tip: Make sauce ahead, throw it into the freezer and use it to make quick pasta dinners.
