Nutrition Facts
Avocados are mostly fat, but the type of fat in avocados is heart-healthy. Two-thirds of the fat in avocados is in the form of monounsaturated fat, the same type found in olive oil. Monounsaturated fats can help lower overall inflammation and “lousy” LDL cholesterol and increase “healthy” HDL cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease.
Avocados are an excellent source of folate, a B vitamin that may reduce the risk of some types of cancer. This fruit is also rich in potassium, which can help lower blood pressure.
Cocoa contains antioxidants called flavonols that protect healthy cells from damage from aging and the environment. Cocoa is one of the food sources that is highest in antioxidants. Two tablespoons of cocoa powder have more antioxidant activity than 3 cups of green tea or 1 cup of blueberries!
