Nutrition

  • Adding citrus juice or zest to your recipes is a great way to add flavour and stimulate your taste buds without using the salt shaker
  • Citrus fruits are rich in flavonoids, antioxidants which may have anticancer properties. In cell studies, flavonoids from citrus fruits have been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. In animal studies, flavonoids have been shown to prevent tumours from growing.
  • Dates provide a natural way to sweeten desserts in place of processed sugar and artificial sweeteners. Dates are high in insoluble fibre, the type of fibre that acts as roughage and helps keep your colon healthy. Research suggests that diets high in insoluble fibre may reduce colon cancer risk.
